The role includes leading and mentoring a team of Security Designers, creating electronic physical security systems, producing 2D drawings and 3D BIM models, and developing low‑voltage and Division 28 security specifications. The designer will ensure quality assurance, support projects through design and construction phases, act as a technical advisor to internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across disciplines.
- Lead and mentor a team of Security Designers
- Design electronic physical security systems, including CPTED, site security, gates, guard booths, doors, and hardware
- Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D BIM models using Revit or equivalent
- Design low‑voltage building systems such as access control, video security, intrusion, intercom, and network infrastructure
- Develop Division 28 security specifications
- Provide guidance on cyber‑hardening of network‑connected security devices
- Perform quality assurance and quality control of design packages
- Support the team independently during design and construction stages
- Mentor and train junior designers toward PSP certification
- Lead security design processes to meet or exceed kW|WSP standards and deadlines
- Provide technical and advisory support to internal teams and external clients
- Conduct site visits and site walks as needed for project delivery
- Integrate project requirements into mission‑critical facility designs
- Represent the security discipline in internal and client‑facing meetings
- Implement best‑practice procedures and drive continuous improvement
- Coordinate proactively with other disciplines to prevent rework and schedule delays

The company is seeking a Security Designer for a hybrid role based out of any WSP office in the United States. This position focuses on hands‑on design, technical leadership, and team development within the security discipline, reporting to the VP of ICT.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in physical security system design, strong Revit and AutoCAD skills, and a proven record of mentoring toward PSP certification. They must possess excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to travel to project sites while upholding WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies. A bachelor’s degree with 10‑12 years of experience (or equivalent experience) and a current PSP certification are required.

Benefits
