Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification and assists in the development of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for high risk activity.
Monitors and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.
Monitors and audits subcontractor HSE performance.
Implements corporate and district HSE communication strategies and initiatives on projects.
Participates in investigations and monitors implementation of corrective actions for effectiveness.
Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.
Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and subcontractor safety plans.
Develops, implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.

Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Holds safety designation (ie. CSO, NCSO, GSC, CRSP, NEBOSH, etc.)
Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Post-secondary certificate, bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.
Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
