In this role you will support the delivery of fire testing of building products to defined fire resistance and large‑scale test standards. The position provides structured, hands‑on training with the aim of progressing into a Project Leader position.
- Prepare and deliver fire tests on building products per British, European, and International standards
- Assist Project Leaders with test setup, supervision, data collection, and reporting
- Liaise with clients and contractors to ensure timely, accurate test preparation
- Record test results and draft clear technical reports
- Ensure compliance with UKAS procedures, health and safety regulations, and test standards
- Maintain calibration records and support overall laboratory operations
- Contribute to general lab activities and continuous improvement initiatives
- Travel to off‑site facilities to support customer testing
- Follow structured procedures and support technical projects
- Produce strong documentation and basic technical reports
- Apply practical, hands‑on skills in a test‑lab environment
- Travel to client sites or off‑site testing locations as needed

- Hold a science, engineering, or relevant construction background
- Use Microsoft Office and internet‑based tools proficiently
- Be organised, self‑motivated, and able to prioritise tasks
- Desirable: Experience in fire resistance or product testing, preferably building products
- Desirable: Laboratory experience with standard practices
- Desirable: Understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to construction/testing
- Desirable: Technical knowledge of building materials and methods
- Desirable: Strong verbal and written communication for liaising with clients and contractors
- Desirable: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or specifications
