Area Supervisor, New Construction Start-Up Commission

• Manage staffing and vacation requests to assure we fulfill project obligations
• The employee is regularly required to use construction equipment.
• Attend job site meeting and provide input to GC, PM and GF
• The employee is regularly required to use a ladder.
• Mentor, train and develop future supervisors (succession planning) to meet current and future business needs.
• Confirm company QA/QC protocols are met
• Balance workloads to keep appropriate skill level on jobs as needed
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods, stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• Complete Startup and commissioning documentation.
• Review field technician startup reports and submit to admin staff
• Recruit, interview and train new employees
• Plumbing system commissioning and testing.
• Assist Warranty Supervisor with assigning technicians to warranty calls when the warranty technician is not available
• Maintain proper documentation of daily activities using project specific reporting procedures
• Answer technical questions from field mechanics, engineering, PM personnel
• Counsel technicians when either Customer relations issues arise or internal Company procedures have not been followed
• Work in the field with assigned technicians on a routine basis
• Startup and mechanical functional testing of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing equipment.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule
• Hold monthly safety meetings and enforce safety guidelines and procedures
• Implementation of Acco policies and procedures
• Read and interpret Mechanical and plumbing prints, specifications and other construction contract documents
• Support System Operations General Manager with assessing project schedules and manpower requirements
• Implementation of Safety Department’s protocols
• Mechanical system commissioning and testing.
• Conduct Site Safety Inspections (SSI’s) on construction site
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with different departments within ACCO
• The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other technicians/team members
• Willingness and ability to attend ACCO and Union training sessions (signatory sponsorship will be provided to non-signatory applicants hired for the position).

• Four or more years as a commercial HVAC Journeyperson Technician
• Good written and oral communication skills.

• The employee is regularly required to walk and sit.

Demonstrates appropriate compromise, effective time management, prioritization practices and holds team members (including themselves) accountable for their performance/conduct.
• High school diploma, Certificate of G.E.D, or certificate of completion in an apprenticeship program in HVAC & refrigeration, or similar trade or technical program completion.
• Ability to utilize a personal computer.
• Communication Fosters open, honest, candid and respectful communication. Effectively assesses, defines and communicates issues in a timely manner, both written and verbal.
• This individual must be a responsible person and regular attendance is required.
• The auditory/hearing abilities required by the job include the ability to hear customers calling by telephone.

• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
