In this role you’ll keep automation projects moving by supporting data‑center startups, performing on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, and leading startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems in industries such as food and beverage. You’ll partner with automation and controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate systems on‑site, and provide clear communication and updates to customers and project teams. Travel rotations follow a days‑on/days‑off schedule (e.g., 5 on‑2 off, 10 on‑4 off, or 14 on‑7 off), giving you new challenges and locations each project.
For those who’d rather be on the move than behind a desk, ProAutomated is opening its 2026 hiring pipeline for curious, adaptable problem‑solvers who love travel, hands‑on work, and being part of a team that actually knows your name. If you can laugh through flight delays, figure things out on the fly, and enjoy solving complex problems, this role could be a perfect fit.
We’re looking for candidates who genuinely love travel and can be away from home on rotation, with a working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking. Strong communication, problem‑solving skills, adaptability and grit are essential, as is living within 50 mi of a major airport (relocation assistance available), having a personal vehicle within 45 days of employment, and being authorized to work in the U.S. A technical degree or equivalent hands‑on experience (3+ years) in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering is required.
The role’s essential physical functions include walking long distances across large facilities, climbing ladders or working at heights, lifting and moving up to 50 lb, and standing, kneeling, or reaching for extended periods in varied environments such as construction sites, outdoor settings, and hot or cold conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
We believe in transparency, so our four‑week paid training prepares technically skilled individuals for field work. Success in training requires a basic foundation in electrical systems, programming, and communication networking; candidates lacking these basics may not be the right fit at this time.
Working with ProAutomated means work + travel combined: you’ll experience new cities, tackle unique projects, and earn travel rewards while serving customers across North America, with no office to report to. Compensation starts at $60,000–$75,000 plus per‑diem, mileage reimbursement, utilization and weekend bonuses, and we invest in your growth through paid training, annual merit raises and a guaranteed 5 % salary increase after six months. Real benefits include health, dental, life insurance, a matching 401(k), disability coverage, paid vacation and flexible time off after 18 months, all within a people‑first culture where managers have risen through the ranks.
