Packaging Engineer - Supply Chain Systems

Description

• Collaborate & Lead: Partner with engineering, program management, and commercial teams to align schedules and logistics readiness. Brief suppliers and carriers on technical requirements.
• Engineer for Safety: Develop tie-down systems, lifting points, and shock/vibration isolation features that meet stringent safety and product requirements.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Perform FMEA, risk assessments, and root-cause investigations. Implement sustainability practices like reusable platforms and low-impact packaging.
• Hands-On Testing: Conduct first-article reviews, validation testing, and field inspections to confirm performance.
• Documentation & Compliance: Author handling manuals, SOPs, and lift plans. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ITAR/EAR, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
• Optimize Logistics: Map end-to-end logistics flows, reduce unnecessary transloads, and design routing plans that save time and cost.
• Design & Validate: Create transport platforms, containers, cradles, and fixtures for complex cargo. Use CAD and FEA to ensure strength, stability, and securement.
• Data-Driven Insights: Build dashboards tracking damage rates, delivery performance, and cost metrics. Integrate data into ERP and QMS systems for full traceability.

Requirements

• Knowledge in CAD design for modeling containers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Systems Engineering.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (Creo) and structural validation tools (FEA, test correlation).
• 10+ years of experience in aerospace, heavy manufacturing, logistics engineering, or supply-chain optimization.
• Proven capability in mechanical design, complex product packaging, supply chain operations, platform or fixture engineering, and cargo movement analysis.
• Understanding of logistics routing, carrier operations, and handling standards.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to participate in field tests and inspections.
• Experience with cargo tracking system software.
