The Associate Director – Civil Engineering role provides technical leadership for data centre projects, covering site due diligence, masterplanning, detailed design and construction support. This position drives business growth, strengthens client relationships, and expands AECOM’s civil engineering capabilities within the data centre sector.
Working within the Civil Engineering Business Unit, you will collaborate with ground, structural, mechanical, electrical, process engineers, architects, project managers, environmental specialists and surveyors across the UK and overseas to support a diverse portfolio of data centre projects.
As an ambassador for AECOM across EMEA and globally, you will contribute civil engineering expertise to major technology clients, ensuring technical excellence, resilience and interdisciplinary integration while supporting AECOM’s position in the hyperscale and co‑location data centre market.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) and Chartered Engineer status (CEng, MICE or equivalent), with proven experience leading complex civil infrastructure projects, preferably in data centres or mission‑critical environments, and possesses strong knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, utility approvals and BIM processes.
