  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Provide input into the disposition of nonconforming materials, temporary deviations (TDs), production part approvals (PPAP), and quality investigations related to metallurgy.
  • Learn and use software tools including MS Office, Siemens Teamcenter, Planisware, and UKG.
  • Build knowledge of Danfoss products, applications, and use cases to inform material and testing decisions.
  • Assist in innovation and development efforts for material selection, heat treatment processes, and product improvement.
  • Perform mechanical and metallurgical testing, including Rockwell testing, Tensile testing, microstructure analysis, and nondestructive examination methods.
  • Participate in root cause and failure analysis investigations.
  • Document results in formal engineering reports, presentations, and internal communications.
  • Read and interpret test requests, coordinate with engineers, and maintain timely email communication.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, following all safety protocols.

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science; rising junior, rising senior, or recent graduate status required
  • Communicates effectively, able to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Prior exposure to metallurgical or materials testing methods
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office; ability to learn new tools and systems quickly
  • Experience with microscopy techniques and metallographic analysis
  • Familiarity with CAD software for sample preparation or fixture design
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with and learn from experienced team members
  • Strong written communication skills for technical documentation
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of material science principles; ability to apply concepts in practical lab settings
  • Safety-first mindset with willingness to learn required lab protocols
