Prepare designs and analyses for maritime and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs, including the structural design of dock and lock gates.

Produce outline models, drawings, and details for CAD (in Revit environment if you can but detailed drafting/modelling by modellers), check and review these prior to issue.
Produce design calculations, check and review calculations produced by others.
Prepare draft Bills of Quantities, Contract Documents and Specifications.
Carry out inspections and surveys.
Undertake engineering analyses and reporting.
Manage and direct more junior staff.
Provide engineering judgement and advice; contribute to preparation of study reports.
Collect and collate design data.

Professional experience in heavy civils projects.
Communication Skills – clearly articulate orally and in writing the reasons behind your decisions. Confident presenting to team members, clients, and stakeholders.
Conceptual Ability – capable of undertaking design from concept to ready for construction.
Civil or Structural Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
Retaining wall and piling design experience desirable but not essential.
Analytical Ability - independently undertake design and analysis work with support from senior engineers for complex tasks.
Problem Solving – think laterally and develop solutions to problems with others and on your own.
Client Orientation – understands the importance of the client’s perception of the organization. Maintains a professional client- facing approach.
Willing to travel occasionally throughout the UK and overseas.
Experience in the design of floating steel structures such as dock and lock gates and pontoons, or other similar structures is essential.
Personable – approachable, relatable, and empathetic.
Experience in reinforced concrete design desirable but not essential.
Chartered member of a relevant institution, e.g. CEng MICE or CEng MIStructE or working towards.
