Internally titled Purchaser, the role reports to the Purchasing Manager and sits within a collaborative purchasing team that works closely with product development, customer support, distribution and manufacturing across Honiton and Exeter. The purchaser will be responsible for managing the full procurement cycle across a portfolio of Nu-Heat suppliers, from sourcing new partners to negotiating contracts and maintaining supplier performance.
Key supplier-management duties include building strong relationships to ensure product quality, timely delivery and cost-effectiveness, maintaining a product purchasing profile for each key supplier, and assisting in the selection and onboarding of new suppliers. The role also collaborates with the product development team to guarantee that new products are designed for manufacturability and meet specification and quality standards, and prepares regular reports on spend, cost-saving initiatives, cash conversion and purchasing KPIs.
In terms of stock management, the purchaser will keep inventory records up to date, monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain appropriate availability for customers. Responsibilities cover accurate forecasting of stock value, reviewing aged or obsolete inventory, acting as the escalation point for fulfilment issues, coordinating safe storage with distribution and manufacturing, and identifying alternative sources when preferred suppliers cannot meet demand.
Candidates should hold at least a CIPS Level 3 qualification or be willing to undertake training, and possess hands‑on experience with MRP or ERP systems for ordering and stock control. Proven purchasing experience, strong negotiation and category‑planning abilities, and well‑developed influencing and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel—including formulas, pivot tables and charts—is required to analyse data effectively.
The position follows a Monday-to-Friday schedule, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a hybrid working model—three days in the office and two days remote.
The remuneration package includes 23 days of holiday, a pension contribution matched up to 8 %, life assurance at three times the base salary, and participation in the Genuit sharesave scheme.
