The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for developing and maintaining an assigned sales territory that serves end users and municipalities. The BDM creates and executes a territory management plan covering mobile product users, municipal entities, and other end‑user customers, acting as the primary contact for sales, relationship building, and market‑share growth.
Key duties include identifying new customers and channel partners, strengthening existing account relationships, conducting market research, and serving as the main sales resource to ensure successful project outcomes. The BDM also collaborates with clients on programs and promotions, manages sales information in CRM/ERP, communicates regularly with the Sales Leader, and leverages marketing resources to introduce new products and increase brand awareness.
Minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), at least seven years of direct sales experience in the assigned industry, and strong verbal, written, and presentation skills along with negotiation, organization, and independent work abilities. Preferred qualifications include an MBA or comparable experience, prior trade experience in power generation or related equipment, and deep technical and commercial product knowledge.
Physical demands involve frequent talking, hearing, standing, walking, occasional stooping, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting up to 25 lb, as well as typical computer‑based work and occasional travel up to 50 % of the territory. Energy Systems is an equal‑opportunity employer committed to non‑discriminatory hiring practices.
The position offers an annual salary ranging from $96,300 to $144,500, dependent on experience, location, and other factors, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, flexible spending and health savings accounts, paid time off, eight paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and a 401(k) plan.
