The Project Manager will oversee operational aspects of electrical construction projects for Sturgeon Electric, a subsidiary of MYR Group with a history dating back to 1912. Sturgeon Electric provides large‑scale transmission, commercial, industrial, and renewable energy services across the western United States, operating both powerline and commercial/industrial divisions.
In this role you will prepare construction schedules, coordinate daily project activities, serve as the primary contact for project teams, and maintain communication with clients through meetings, deliverables, and progress reports. You will also monitor job costs against budgets, develop cost estimates, perform field take‑offs, and support change‑order preparation while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Prepare project construction schedules
- Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to clients
- Manage day‑to‑day activities of assigned projects
- Act as main point‑of‑contact for project personnel
- Coordinate meetings, schedule updates, deliverables, and resolve client‑requested items
- Generate look‑ahead documents, weekly/monthly progress reports, and billing information
- Review and monitor job costs versus budgets
- Report regularly to management
- Develop complete labor and material cost estimates within deadlines
- Perform field take‑offs/evaluations for estimate preparation
- Participate in estimate reviews with internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare bills of material for purchasing
- Conduct field walk‑downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction staff to assess constructability
- Compare project documents for accuracy and consistency
- Assist in preparing and submitting change orders
- Coordinate closely with project management team
- Support construction personnel in cost‑estimate tracking throughout project lifecycle
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of project management and estimating experience in the electrical industry, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid), Microsoft Project or Primavera, and strong analytical and communication skills are required, alongside familiarity with NEC, local codes, and multidisciplinary plans.

- Knowledge of specifications, proposals, NEC and local codes
- Ability to read civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans related to electrical work
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software such as Accubid
- Ability to create construction schedules in Microsoft Project or Primavera
- Strong analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Team player able to work with diverse internal and external partners
- Self‑driven with ability to stay on‑task for extended periods
