The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining advanced CNC machining equipment in the XTAC Workshop Facility. This role supports the manufacturing of high‑precision components and contributes directly to engineering and testing activities, reporting to the Workshop Manager. The position is located in Frederick, MD, with standard hours of 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.

Develop CNC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX) to create efficient toolpaths.
Set up and operate CNC and manual machines (dual‑spindle lathes, 5‑axis mills) while maintaining required tolerances.
Perform machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, and broaching on metallic and non‑metallic materials.
Design and fabricate custom fixtures/workholding and secure tooling for optimal performance.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with engineers and cross‑functional teams to implement new processes, tooling concepts, and manufacturing technologies.
Conduct in‑process and final inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, CMMs, etc.) and document results.
Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs following SOPs and safety protocols.
Train new team members on machine operation, shop practices, and safety procedures.
Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate equipment, process, or quality issues promptly.

Minimum high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of CNC programming and machine setup experience.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX or equivalent) and generation of G‑Code programs.
Strong ability to read blueprints and verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and other metrology equipment.
Experience using precision measuring devices and conducting inspections.
Knowledge of industrial safety practices, hazardous‑material handling, and willingness to obtain certifications (OSHA‑30, forklift, etc.).
Ability to lift or move at least 50 lb and work independently with minimal supervision.
Competence with basic computer applications, electronic data entry, and adherence to 5S/lean workplace standards.
