The successful candidate will install electrical equipment in distribution substations, carry out wiring and cabling on new equipment, and lead mechanical fitting tasks using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments, following engineering drawings and specifications.
The position requires adherence to safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and preparing reports for supervisors and management. It also includes mentoring junior fitters and fostering a collaborative team culture.
- Conduct routine maintenance inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to detect mechanical issues, defects, or wear.
- Diagnose electrical faults, malfunctions, and breakdowns, and repair or replace defective parts to restore functionality.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and system failures using diagnostic tools, manuals, and technical documentation to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Analyse equipment performance data, conduct performance tests, and interpret results to diagnose complex electrical issues and optimise performance.
- Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations while performing fitting, maintenance, and repair activities, minimizing accident risk.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety inspections, implementing controls to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and parts inventory.
- Prepare maintenance reports, inspection findings, and equipment performance summaries, providing regular updates to supervisors and management.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to junior fitters and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team, promoting excellence and quality standards.
