The Technical Support Engineer role in the Application Networking Security Business Unit provides frontline assistance for VMware products, diagnosing, reproducing, and resolving technical issues through telephone, email, or Zoom sessions. Engineers are expected to follow standard operating procedures, collaborate with peers, mentors, and internal knowledge bases, and document new solutions for reuse. The position also involves serving as the primary contact for designated federal EU accounts and working closely with engineering teams to address complex challenges.
EU citizenship and legal authorization to work in the EU are mandatory, along with fluent written and spoken English. Candidates must exhibit strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills, a logical problem‑solving approach, and the ability to handle high‑pressure situations and escalations. Technical expertise should include core networking, virtualization, Kubernetes, and familiarity with L2‑L7 protocols, with additional knowledge of NSX and firewalls considered an advantage. Flexibility to work weekends or holidays as business needs dictate is also required.
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least eight years of relevant experience, including six years in enterprise technical support, or a Master’s degree with six years of comparable experience.
