Tasks

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Communications Manager to lead our communications efforts across internal and external channels. This senior-level role is responsible for contributing to the strategic vision, managing execution, and ensuring consistent and engaging messaging that supports our company’s mission and brand. Creativity and attention to detail are a must. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, people-oriented communicator with strong leadership skills, excellent writing ability, and deep experience in both traditional and digital communications. This person will manage one Communications Coordinator, collaborate with the marketing team, and work directly with leaders across the firm to drive effective communication strategies. -Direct and approve engaging content for company social media platforms, newsletters, and campaigns. -Internal Communications Develop internal communications strategies that strengthen culture, align employees with company priorities, and celebrate achievements. -Stay current with emerging digital trends, tools, and best practices (e.g., analytics dashboards, AI-driven content, SEO/SEM, and online reputation management). -Manage the company intranet and other internal platforms, ensuring employees have access to resources and updates. -Guide online campaigns and digital storytelling to strengthen brand awareness and attract new audiences. -Collaborate with the marketing team and technical staff to produce compelling materials and campaigns. -Oversee website content strategy and maintenance (Webflow), ensuring content is current, accurate, and impactful. -Develop and implement strategies for SEO, search visibility, and content optimization to improve reach and engagement. -Manage public relations efforts, including press releases, media relations, award submissions, and industry publications. -Collaborate with leadership and HR on employee engagement, culture-building, and recognition initiatives. -Strategic Leadership Develop and oversee comprehensive internal and external communication strategies aligned with company goals. -Act as a thought partner to leadership, providing counsel on communications opportunities, risks, and strategies. -Team Leadership Supervise and mentor the Communications Coordinator, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities. -Promote a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability within the communications function. -Ensure the company’s online presence (Google Business, LinkedIn, industry directories, media mentions) is accurate, up to date, and strategically positioned. -Serve as brand steward, ensuring consistency across all platforms, publications, and messaging. -Digital & Online Presence Monitor, analyze, and report on digital performance metrics across all channels (website, social media, newsletters). -Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, clients, and media outlets. -External Communications Lead planning, coordination, and execution of industry conferences and events, including logistics, budgeting, and on-site representation. -Assess effectiveness

What You Bring

This position is based in Boise, ID, and requires working in-office to fully embrace and contribute to our company culture. -Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities. -Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring or supervising staff. -Experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry preferred but not required. -Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to adapt messaging for different audiences. -10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or marketing communications. -Proficiency with digital communication platforms, including website CMS (Webflow preferred), intranet tools, and social media schedulers. -Based in Boise, ID and able to work in-office. -Willingness to travel to conferences up to 10 times per year. -Experience analyzing communications performance data and using insights to inform strategy. -Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and other design tools. -Experience managing conferences, events, or large-scale marketing initiatives. -Demonstrated success in developing and executing communication strategies that drive engagement and brand awareness. -Proven ability to manage and enhance corporate online presence across web and social platforms. -Knowledge of digital marketing best practices, including SEO/SEM, analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, LinkedIn Insights), and content optimization.

Benefits
