The role of Compliance Risk Reduction Programme Manager also provides strategic input via programmatic leadership to deliver annualised compliance programmes, supports the funding case for long-term investment, and drives a risk-based recovery profile to restore compliance across high-risk asset groups and activities.
The Compliance Risk Reduction Programme Manager leads the delivery of statutory engineering compliance across the estate, with a focus on managing and supporting Responsible Persons (RPs) for asbestos, Legionella, gas safety, electrical safety amongst other disciplines. The role supports the Chief Engineer and SHEQ Director in maintaining technical compliance, operational safety and adherence to statutory and regulatory obligations across HMNB Portsmouth and associated outstations.
You’ll be degree Qualified in an Engineering/ Management discipline and ideally have obtained Ieng/CEng (or working towards) Membership of relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IStructE, IET, IMechE). With a Programme-led delivery mindset, you’ll be able to see the bigger picture/interpret wider strategy, leads and manages by example, motivates others, makes decisions, initiates action, and takes responsibility.
Additionally, you’ll have strong programme management and risk reduction capability, the ability to translate complex compliance requirements into actionable engineering solutions and have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. With ability to lead audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives, you’ll champion competency in managing and developing technical teams and ensure/assure compliance to all relevant statutory and regulatory legislation within a built infrastructure environment.
Deep understanding of statutory engineering compliance frameworks (e.g., JSP 375, BS 9999:2017, CAR:2012, HSE ACoP L8, GSR 1998) and ideally proven experience in managing technical compliance and assurance in a complex engineering environment.
