We are seeking a Data Analytics & Visualization Lead to support the Chicago Department of Water Management’s Capital Improvement Program. The hands‑on technical role will lead the development of analytics solutions and dashboards that turn engineering, operations, and maintenance data into actionable insights for daily operations and long‑term planning. You will act as the technical team lead, guiding junior staff while collaborating closely with DWM stakeholders.
The role involves building and optimizing SQL Server pipelines, integrating EAM, GIS, and operational datasets into unified analytical models, and creating KPI frameworks for utility management. You will design semantic data models and develop Power BI dashboards that are intuitive, user‑friendly, and aligned with visualization best practices. Ongoing collaboration with cross‑functional teams and mentorship of junior analysts are essential to ensure data quality and alignment.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, engineering, or a related field and have at least eight years of relevant experience. Preferred experience includes GIS data integration, utilities or public‑infrastructure backgrounds, and informal or formal leadership of a BI/analytics team. Strong proficiency with Power BI, SQL, data modeling, and excellent communication skills with non‑technical stakeholders are required, along with any relevant certifications.
