Construction Group of Choice
The role includes managing large‑scale or multiple projects, building strong relationships with clients, owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors, and maintaining a positive company image with all stakeholders.
The Project Manager will set up and maintain cost accounting, develop and keep the project schedule, assign personnel, partner with preconstruction services for value engineering and bidding, create schedules of values, generate payment applications, negotiate subcontractor agreements and purchase orders, and assist with contract modifications.
Additional duties involve facilitating coordination meetings, reviewing pay applications and invoices, tracking change management, monitoring submittals and shop drawings, managing contracts, bonds, insurance and warranties, and regularly reviewing budgets, schedules and progress with the Superintendent.
Site visits are required to assess supervision, progress, quality, safety and production planning; the manager will handle change orders, extra work, disputed claims, resolve vendor disputes, oversee startup and commissioning, provide owner training, and deliver close‑out documentation while reporting financial performance to the Division Manager.
Position Overview: Wharton‑Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor based in Central Florida, is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a commercial background for the Osceola County, FL area.
Candidates must have new commercial or K‑12 construction experience, have led projects over $1 million, hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, possess at least five years of engineering or construction experience, and demonstrate success on multimillion‑dollar projects; experience with correctional/detention facilities, strong communication skills and proficiency with CPM scheduling and construction management software are a plus.
