The Maintenance Technician A works under the direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. Responsibilities include servicing chassis components, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic, and electrical systems), air brake systems, engine work, HVAC components, and suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. The role offers the chance to work on a single fleet of state‑of‑the‑art vehicles, tackle new challenges daily, and receive training on emerging technologies.
Key duties involve complex on‑site and on‑the‑road repairs across multiple vehicle systems. The technician repairs chassis components, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking systems, engines, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and heating/air‑conditioning units. Additional tasks include line‑maintenance welding and fabrication, diagnosing malfunctions with electronic tools, completing required company training, and performing other assigned duties.
Candidates must have at least three years of experience servicing heavy‑duty trucks and be capable of independently inspecting and repairing systems such as suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions. ASE Heavy Truck certifications (T1‑T8), LNG/CNG experience, and a Class B or higher commercial driver’s license are considered assets but are not mandatory.
