The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations to transfer, spread, cover, load, and compact waste or soil efficiently and safely.
Before each shift the operator inspects the equipment, cleans windows, lights, mirrors and rear‑view cameras, and verifies that all safety features are functional. During operations they handle forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front‑end loaders while continuously monitoring waste for prohibited material and equipment condition, performing minor service as needed, and completing equipment condition reports.
The operator follows all required safety policies, keeps the shop clean and organized at the end of each shift, and promptly reports any repair needs to the supervisor.
Professional, courteous interaction with customers is essential, along with honesty, good time‑management, and strict adherence to company policies, schedules and safety standards.
Candidates must have at least two years of heavy‑equipment operation experience and one year working on OSHA‑regulated sites, as well as strong follow‑through, teamwork, and a pride in their work.
