The Principal Structuring Analyst plays an integral role within the Portfolio Management and Strategy group, responsible for pricing and valuation of structured natural‑gas transactions, including physical index, basis, fixed‑price products, and storage and transport assets. The analyst leads structuring and participation in load auctions for various LDCs, government aggregation contracts, and responds to RFPs for large commercial and industrial facilities, while supporting deal valuation for SMB and residential customers. A strong understanding of natural‑gas markets, pipeline and LDC tariff structures, supply‑demand fundamentals, ICE trading dynamics, and option theory is essential.
Key duties include accurate, timely valuation of natural‑gas transactions across service levels, structuring and valuing asset‑release transactions, and evaluating load auctions, government aggregations, SMB and residential programs. The analyst collaborates daily with Sales and Trading teams to ensure favorable risk‑reward structures, drives system and process improvements, and fosters cross‑functional relationships with business and IT to enhance pricing system functionality. Recommendations based on complex analysis are communicated effectively to senior management and diverse audiences.
Minimum qualifications are an undergraduate degree in engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, science or equivalent experience, plus eight years of energy‑industry experience. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and valuation abilities, and the capability to prioritize and perform under time constraints with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or MBA in finance, economics, energy or related field, trading experience with physical basis and index natural‑gas products, and experience in energy risk and transaction booking.
