The Permitting and Environment Associate will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of offshore and onshore planning permits (Commonwealth and State permits) for the High Sea Wind offshore wind project in Australia with support from the project’s Permitting and Environment Senior Manager.

  • Help ensure control of quality and consistency of all surveys, studies, and reports required to deliver project planning permits.
  • Support in the management and monitoring of compliance with environmental mitigations, commitments and permit conditions, including those associated with Management Plans, and interfaces with contractors, QHSSE functions.
  • Support in the management of all public and regulatory consultation activities helping to ensure the successful delivery of the project environmental stakeholder engagement plan.
  • Support the Permitting and Environment Senior Manager in regular reporting to the board through the preparation of various board meeting materials.
  • Drive innovation with the project ensuring opportunities to deliver a more efficient permitting process are maximised.
  • Support in the management of consultants providing services in the delivery of the project permits, including the Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant.
  • Lead in the coordination of the Project Design Envelope with the Design Manager/engineering team.
  • Provide strategic permitting and environmental advice for future offshore wind farm opportunities in Australia, as required, for OW.
  • Support the Permitting and Environment Senior Manager in the delivery of the High Sea Wind project permitting strategy with the management of aspects of the project program and budget.
  • Any other reasonable functions required by the Company to support the implementation of the environmental permits for the High Sea Wind project activities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

This role requires thoughtful coordination and cooperation with other OW teams and external third parties.

BSc/Beng/MSc degree in Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Law or Business Administration.

Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Other languages will be highly valued.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

  • Organised and efficient with an ability to multi-task and work to challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment in a multi-disciplinary team across a number of specialist areas and organisational cultures.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication across a variety of end groups.
  • More than 3 years’ experience within a professional company (e.g. Utility, consultancy, Government Agency or NGO) with direct experience of the renewables industry / transmission infrastructure delivery and/or the consenting/planning process.
  • High standard of report writing and presentation skills.
