The Project Engineer acts as the initial technical resource for internal and external sales teams, leading the application‑evaluation stage of the sales process. This role bridges customers and technical/engineering teams, leveraging deep knowledge of fluid‑power products to prepare accurate project estimates and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.
Key duties include maintaining expert product knowledge, articulating product positioning—including competitor alternatives—to sales teams and customers, and producing clear, detailed quotations on schedule. The engineer assists colleagues with technical and engineering issues, supports bid preparation, assesses project risk, plans timelines, and monitors costs against forecasts. Additional responsibilities involve identifying cost‑reduction opportunities, tracking accounts and opportunities in company databases, achieving sales targets and KPI’s, and pursuing new business in line with strategic objectives while remaining flexible in workload.
Successful candidates possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong technical aptitude, and high organization with attention to detail. They are proficient with Microsoft Office, hold a two‑year technical degree (or a Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred), and have at least two years of sales or sales‑support experience with demonstrated customer success. The role requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods, lift up to 15 lb, and work effectively with internal teams.
