Assistant Project Manager - K-12 Projects (Owner's Representative)

Description

• Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, quality, and risk across all phases.
• Interpret contracts, design standards, programming requirements, and construction documents.
• Interface directly with clients to define and document project requirements.
• Assist in project planning, scope definition, cost estimating, scheduling, quality control, and risk identification.
• Identify and select pre‑qualified resources; conduct simple RFPs and assist with bid analysis.
• Recommend resources to managers and clients; support project delivery teams.
• Implement communication plans, facilitate meetings, and produce meeting minutes and reports.
• Ensure project documentation governance, data integrity, and timely coordination.
• Track project progress, report status and variances, and create action plans to meet objectives.
• Participate in change management, assess change impacts, obtain client approvals, and issue change orders.
• Conduct risk management activities, develop mitigation plans, and execute risk reduction actions.
• Support project closeout, handover documentation, and facility assessments for building systems.
• Deliver efficient, courteous service and effective presentations.
• Apply intermediate analytical, quantitative, and Microsoft Office skills; read architectural drawings.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and analytical abilities, and the ability to provide efficient, timely, and courteous service. They should be capable of presenting information clearly, following standard instructions, solving typical problems, and possess intermediate analytical, quantitative, and Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to read architectural drawings.

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred, along with 3‑5 years of construction experience. Prior construction experience, especially with HVAC and mechanical systems, and familiarity with construction practices are advantageous. Working knowledge of MS Project is helpful.
