Monitors and oversees the safety program for field work and operations related to the structural aspects of construction

Attends bi-weekly safety meeting and leads portions of the meeting related to safety issues and topics pertinent to structural construction
Resolves or facilitates the resolution of discrepancies, problems with the contract documents and pertinent field operations related to structures
Promotes the Mark Thomas core values, vision, and goals internally and externally
Exercises sound engineering judgement and determinations regarding the administration of a construction contract and field operations for the structural aspects of a project
Takes appropriate field measurements and performs calculations for the monthly payment of contract quantities for structural work in an accurate manner

Holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
California Professional Engineer (PE) license required; or PE in another state with the ability to obtain CA Licensure within one year
Competent verbal and written communication skills
5+ years progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, or, 7-10+ years of general construction experience specifically related to structural engineering design and construction
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
Meets/exceeds competencies equivalent to the Assistant Resident Engineer level
Willingness to travel
Understands and properly interprets the pertinent contract documents, information, and references for the structural work of a construction project
Possession of a valid driver’s license
Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project
Demonstrated basic understanding of both internal and external project financials and metrics
