Director of Construction

The Director of Construction is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all construction operations for commercial projects. This individual will manage multiple project teams, ensure project completion on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial construction management, exceptional leadership abilities, and a strong understanding of industry regulations and best practices.

• Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing construction management teams.
• Manage contract negotiations, claims, and dispute resolutions in coordination with legal counsel.
• Establish and enforce company policies, procedures, and best practices for construction operations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and professional development opportunities.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve profitability goals.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of all commercial construction projects.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
• Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and project kick-offs.
• Proactively identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards.
• Resolve issues related to delays, design changes, or unforeseen conditions promptly.
• Collaborate with the business development team to secure new projects and expand client partnerships.
• Monitor project progress and implement adjustments as needed to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to project managers, superintendents, and field personnel.
• Ensure all projects meet quality standards, safety regulations, and client expectations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of construction safety regulations, building codes, and industry best practices.
• Knowledge of construction industry and all phases of construction projects.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, P6, CMiC, Microsoft Project).
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in commercial construction management.
• Exceptional budgeting, scheduling, and project management skills.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
