Plant Design Engineer

Description

The PD&P Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing Plant Design & Piping deliverables for assigned projects. This role produces drawings, technical documents, and design estimates, while coordinating with clients and internal project teams. The engineer reviews and approves designs, calculations, and bid summaries, resolves complex technical challenges, and ensures all PD&P work meets applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and review PD&P design activities for medium-sized projects or for assignments supporting global business units.
• Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approvals for assigned phases of work.
• Coordinate daily technical work with engineers, designers, specialists, scientists, and drafters as assigned.
• Communicate complex technical issues to management and provide recommended solutions.
• Produce drawings and documentation in alignment with project scope, including earthwork, drainage, road design, foundations, and steel detailing.
• Ensure PD&P system designs comply with all relevant installation codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Contribute to the development of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, standard applications, and administrative practices.
• Review and approve key engineering drawings, calculations, and bid evaluations.
• Mentor PD&P designers and drafters by providing on-the-job guidance and technical development support.
• Prepare or oversee PD&P design estimates and work plans based on project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage execution accordingly.
• Lead or facilitate technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency with 3D modeling tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Willingness to travel and/or relocate to project sites as needed.
• Prior experience with modularization, off-site manufacturing (OSM), and modular piping design.
• Strong knowledge of CAD design and drafting methods, engineering drawings, and reproduction techniques.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply documents and drawings produced by other project teams.
• Strong background in multidiscipline coordination and management of global 3D models.
• Excellent communication, listening, organizational, and planning skills.
• Experience developing, managing, and maintaining BIM models with defined LOD specifications (LOD 100–500) for Plant Design & Piping.
• Proven experience with 3D modeling of complex piping systems, pipe supports, and mechanical equipment in large industrial manufacturing environments (e.g., semiconductor fabs, data centers).
• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of directly related work experience.
