Interpret and implement policies, procedures, processes, and strategic goals of the organization.
Set and implement department goals, objectives, requirements, standards, and guidelines.
Provide continuous mentoring and constructive feedback throughout the year and conduct midyear as well as annual performance reviews for the respective team.
Develop, improve, and communicate project execution and design tools.
Develop, guide, and coordinate study workflows, processes, and procedures.
Build relationships and coordinate with Assistant Department Managers, Section Managers, Functional Leads, and Project Managers in other global practices and office locations.
Identify training needs for engineers and support/develop training programs for the department. Collaborate with other departments on shared training.
Prepare manhours estimates for work scope. Hold the team accountable for the work budgets, metrics, and schedules.
Advise, direct, and/or redirect team members to the appropriate technical resources for the execution of projects as well as the quality reviews performed.
Schedule and lead department meetings at regular intervals.
Manage department staff, and staff workload, and collaborate with Human Resources on recruiting, retention, training, and staff development efforts.
Assign, monitor, and maintain work for quality, billability, and efficient utilization of staff.

Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power System Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
Previous experience with power system planning and operations like power flow studies, short circuits, transient stability, dynamic studies, reliability studies, risk assessment techniques, and protection coordination studies, generator interconnection, load forecasting, harmonics analysis, etc.
Familiarity with IEEE/NERC & IEC etc. standards
Strong understanding of power system planning, process knowledge, and ability to develop a team.
Familiar with, ISO standards will be an added advantage.
Expertise in power system analysis software such as PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP, PSCAD, SKM, CYME, Synergi, DigSILENT, Windmil, MiPower, ETAP, etc.
Familiarity with tools/technology such as Pivot Tables, Data Models, Office 365 apps, and other efficiency/data tracking tools.
Previous experience with project management activities associated with power system planning engineer scope activities.
Work experience in North American power system fundamentals will be an added advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees and management.
Must be willing to travel internationally.
Experience giving and receiving performance feedback for those they work with.
Master’s degree in electrical or power system planning is preferred.
Recruiting experience and experience working on US projects.
