The Traveling Gearbox Repair Technician supports Nordex’s mission to deliver 100 % renewable energy by performing gearbox disassembly, refurbishment, inspections, retrofits and large‑component repairs. The role is within the Services Resources department and requires travel across the United States and Canada, often for extended periods.
Candidates need a high school diploma (or equivalent) and preferably a 2‑year degree in wind turbine technology. Relevant experience includes 2‑5 years of field service on wind turbines, knowledge of power tools, and certifications such as rigger, signal‑person and crane‑calling. The position demands a valid driver’s license, ability to obtain US/Canadian passports, and readiness for up to 100 % travel, overtime and physically demanding work.
Safety is Nordex’s highest priority; the technician must understand and follow all OSHA and ANSI regulations, use required PPE (eye protection, hearing protectors, steel‑toe boots, hard hat) and proactively identify hazards. Effective communication in English with team members and management is essential to maintain a safe work environment.
The role is non‑exempt, paid at $43‑$45 per hour with up to a 5 % bonus, and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits cover life and AD&D insurance, extended health and dental care, long‑term disability, weekly indemnity, and an RRSP match of up to $5 k based on employee contributions.
