Technical Design Co-op

Description

You will learn how a tier‑one transit project translates requirements into buildable designs, apply relevant standards and transit safety principles, develop BIM coordination and document control skills at scale, and see how design decisions affect construction cost, schedule, safety, and user experience in a collaborative environment.

• Assist the technical team in preparing and reviewing models, drawings, and design documentation.
• Support coordination between design consultants and internal engineering teams.
• Participate in constructability reviews to ensure designs meet construction and safety requirements.
• Track design progress and maintain accurate records of deliverables.
• Contribute to design integration across civil, structural, and systems disciplines.
• Perform quality assurance checks and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Provide support for design‑related queries during procurement and implementation phases.
• Promote an inclusive culture by encouraging equity, diverse perspectives, and belonging.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an engineering or technical program (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or related).
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Synchro) is an asset.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
