The role involves managing selected projects or components, taking responsibility for quality assurance, client feedback, and ensuring effective communication of any changes or modifications. You will work in collaboration with other design disciplines to maintain the integrity of the overall design and provide technical advice to project team members. Responsibilities include reviewing and ensuring compliance of project components such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies. You will build and maintain effective client relationships, liaise with the Project Director or Manager to keep all parties informed of project developments, and assist in developing team members to their full potential. Additionally, you must be familiar with relevant health and safety regulations, promote a culture of awareness, and perform other duties as required by your manager.
A B.E/B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized university and 10–15 years of experience designing instrumentation and control systems for the water industry are required. Proven design experience across concept, preliminary, detailed, and construction phases, including development of process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID), block and network diagrams, motor control schematics, and instrumentation take‑offs, is essential. The candidate should be skilled in creating wiring diagrams, cable and conduit schedules, mounting details, and PLC/HMI/SCADA configuration, with proficiency in ACAD, Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE PLCs, and HMI platforms such as Wonderware, GE Proficy, and Rockwell Automation FT. Experience with industrial networks (Cisco, N‑Tron, Stratis), protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP, DNP3), historians, and technologies like HTML5, OPC UA, and Java is also required. The role demands the ability to develop well‑annotated PLC/SCADA applications, create test lists, perform code simulation, conduct independent design reviews, and think innovatively, preferably within a consultancy environment.
