The 24 Carrier Braider Operator is responsible for running the braiding machine to apply a braided covering over cable cores. The operator selects the correct gearing, loads the carriage and core, threads braid supplies, tapes ends, and attaches the core to the take‑up reel. They start the machine, monitor run time, replace spools, manage breaks, cut excess material, and tag finished reels while maintaining basic equipment repairs and housekeeping duties.
- Operate 24 Carrier braider to apply braided covering over cable cores.
- Select appropriate gearing using charts and written instructions.
- Load carriage, thread braid supplies, and load core onto payoff.
- Tape ends to core, attach core to take‑up reel, start and monitor machine.
- Replace spool thread, cut excess material, and smooth braid.
- Rethread and attach yarn as breaks occur; remove and tag finished reel.
- Perform basic maintenance and repair of braider equipment.
- Keep machinery and work area clean and lubricated.
- Use 24 Carrier Braider with counters, chain hoists, payoffs, and take‑ups.
- Utilize various reels, needle‑nose pliers, wire cutters, scissors, and micrometers.
- Employ housekeeping equipment to maintain a safe work environment.

The role requires exceptional color perception, the ability to work to a tolerance of 1/10,000 inch, and physical strength to apply up to 100 lb of force. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic literacy and math skills, and the initiative to adjust quality, complete paperwork, and follow schedule requirements such as Kanban.
