When preliminary cost estimates exceed the owner’s expected budget, works with architects and owners in a value-engineering role. Assists in exploring a multitude of architectural alternatives; then pricing the alternatives that offer the greatest opportunity for cost savings. Solicits input via the Webcor team to identify cost-savings alternatives as needed.
Leads, develop, motivates and more junior team members as required.
Actively participates in all design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design.
Peer reviews work for accuracy. Offers suggestions as needed before bid data is consolidated.
Creates strong relationships with the local subcontractor market.
Takes a leadership role with managing relationships with owners and architects.
Develops conceptual estimates at a strategic level.
Assists in maintaining and updating the master subcontractor list for all trades.
Leads the estimating team to prepare detailed quantity take-offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs. Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing. Create bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow.
Reviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determine both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.
Involves the subject matter experts within the organization to provide feedback directly to owners and architects during the design process to enhance the cost, schedule, quality, and constructability of a project.
Collaborates and leads a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and Webcor employees.
Maintains a “value added” approach to estimating
Compiles cost data received for subcontractors for Webcor Estimators. Examines data as it is being received for both accuracy and sufficiency before completing the final estimate.
