The electrical engineering unit delivers design services and prepares preliminary and final documents for the planning, design, construction, and operation of critical electrical and electronic assets. It operates within a multidisciplinary engineering department that includes other design professionals.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert on electrical and electronics design, advising senior executives.
- Direct conceptual, preliminary, and final design development for all electrical projects, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule compliance.

- Chair the High‑Tension Electrical Board to establish administrative rules and certify operators.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, training, performance management, and development of a staff of 40+ engineers and support personnel.
- Drive electrification initiatives by researching and recommending sustainable technologies to achieve net‑zero goals.

The Port Authority seeks a seasoned electrical engineer to serve as Chief Electrical Engineer, reporting to the Office of the Chief of Design and collaborating closely with the Office of the Chief Engineer, utility stakeholders, and senior executives. The Chief Electrical Engineer directs all electrical engineering services for capital and operating programs and provides expert guidance across aviation, tunnels, bridges, terminals, PATH, WTC, and port departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer license in New York and New Jersey.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive electrical engineering design experience, including high, medium, and low voltage distribution, lighting, and communications systems.
- Proven ability to lead and prioritize multi‑disciplinary assignments and manage a staff of 15+ professionals.
- Strong problem‑solving, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational abilities.
- Experience leading project teams through design proposals, coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and senior‑staff briefings.
- Experience preparing scopes of work, design criteria, and auditing consultant designs.
- Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (desired).
- Deep understanding of electrical utility specifications and requirements (desired).
