  • Leads proactive risk assessment
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS&R standards. Stay abreast of regulatory & political changes as well as shifting market dynamics.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate our safety structure and talent across Power Delivery
  • Advance relationships at all org levels to ensure EHS&R policies and procedures are being applied and followed. Partner with leadership to share and drive best practices across the organization.
  • Know/understand the business and its challenges; provide counsel & drive action in matters concerning environmental, health & safety, security, and risk management.
  • Build Effective Teams – Strong-identity teams that apply diverse skills & perspectives to achieve common goals
  • Collaborate (Plan & Align, Influence) – Build partnerships & work collaboratively w/others to meet shared objectives
  • Lead development of the segment EHS & risk strategic plan, including goals, objectives, & initiatives. Develop, monitor, and leverage KPIs/scorecard to drive business improvement. Report/publish/communicate.
  • Manage Conflict – Handle conflict effectively, with minimum noise
  • Customer Focus – Build strong customer relationships & deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Lead collaborative evaluation & resolution of safety program, policy, system & procedure proposals
  • Advise and support leadership on all EHS&R activities. Serve as subject matter expert.
  • Build the team/focus on talent– assist partners in identifying, developing, coaching & mentoring talent; build capable teams, empowered to build & execute a focused agenda; plan for succession
  • Communicate incidents, including non-injury incidents to identify root cause(s), trends, key learnings, and implementation of effective corrective/preventive actions.
  • Champion focus on risk assessment, proactive/preventive initiatives & actions, identify & communicate risk exposure, prioritize required risk reduction needs, align resources, & ensure closure of required actions.

  • Demonstrated competency with fundamentals of EHS & Risk Management, including DOT compliance
  • Demonstrated organizational development experience – aligning structure, people, & processes; managing change
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, inspire, lead & develop talent
  • BS in Health & Safety Mgt, Risk Mgt and/or related field; pro designation(s) preferred- CSP, CIH, REM, CESCO or other
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze & interpret data, driving thoughtful recommendations & action
  • Organizational Savvy – Maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, & people-related org dynamics
  • 15+ years of relevant industry EHS & Risk experience (field-based workforce; energy/construction; DOT)
  • Manage Ambiguity – Operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear
