In this full‑time position, the Senior Party Chief leads survey field work, working independently or alongside junior party chiefs and instrument operators. Daily interaction with office staff and management ensures seamless project coordination and mentorship opportunities.
Field duties include operating various survey instruments, capturing accurate measurements, and preparing clear notes and sketches. Each day’s data is downloaded, and reports or summaries are provided as needed, while serving as the primary point of contact for clients and the public on site.
WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Party Chief – Surveying to join the Land Surveying and Geospatial Team, located in either Worcester, MA or Troy, NY. The role supports a variety of Northeast surveying and geomatic projects and offers the chance to work with a growing group of survey professionals on both internal and external assignments.
The role involves a wide range of survey projects across sectors such as commercial, transportation, environmental, industrial, institutional, and energy. Assignments are primarily in the Northeast (New York and New England) but may occasionally require travel to locations outside the region, with work environments ranging from rural to urban and predominantly outdoors.
Ideal candidates possess at least a high school diploma or GED, with higher education in land surveying preferred, and bring a minimum of nine years of relevant experience. They demonstrate advanced knowledge of survey equipment, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and the physical capability to handle field demands, including carrying equipment up to 50 lb.
