The Division Finance Manager is a strategic financial leader responsible for supporting the various Business Sectors within BKF. This role blends full-cycle contract and project accounting expertise with a forward-looking business partnership. Acting as a liaison between Finance and Executive Leadership, the manager drives financial performance, advances key initiatives, and mentors project‑accounting staff to strengthen sector results.
In financial management and oversight, the manager oversees full-cycle contract financial administration and project accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. They monitor division-level performance against budgets, forecasts, and KPIs, providing actionable insights and recommendations. Monthly financial reviews with Business Sector leadership are facilitated to drive accountability and identify improvement opportunities, while annual budgeting and reforecasting activities align targets with strategic priorities. The manager also ensures accurate revenue recognition, project cost tracking, adherence to FAR/DCAA standards where applicable, and coordinates accounts receivable collection efforts to accelerate cash flow.
As a business partner and leader, the manager serves as the financial liaison between Business Sector leadership and the Finance/Accounting organization, translating financial performance into operational terms. They partner with leadership to influence decision-making, resource allocation, and strategies that improve profitability and growth, while promoting adoption of company KPIs across assigned sectors. Collaboration between Finance and Operations is facilitated to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance reporting capabilities. The manager also leads integration of project delivery processes during mergers and acquisitions, onboarding acquired teams into ERP tools, quality systems, and document management processes.
In team development and process improvement, the manager develops, mentors, and leads a team of Project Accountants, fostering professional growth and building future leadership capacity. They standardize and advance best practices for month-end closing, project setup, billing, compliance, and reporting, and drive initiatives that reduce inefficiencies, strengthen internal controls, and improve the financial management framework. Support for training and knowledge transfer enhances project managers’ financial acumen and accountability.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and at least ten years of progressive accounting/finance experience in engineering, planning, architecture, or construction management. Candidates must have a strong foundation in project accounting, contract administration, and revenue recognition, as well as demonstrated experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. Proven ability to influence senior leadership, communicate complex financial information, supervise and mentor staff, and proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Vantagepoint, Workday Adaptive Planning) and advanced Excel/financial modeling are essential.
Key competencies include a strategic mindset balanced with detail orientation, strong leadership and team-building abilities, excellent communication and presentation skills, and a results-driven approach capable of managing multiple priorities under deadlines. High ethical standards and a commitment to financial integrity are also required.
Compensation includes a salary range of $110,000‑$155,000 (exempt, biweekly) and may vary based on skills, experience, education, and location. Benefits feature competitive salaries, end-of-year bonuses, profit sharing, 401(k), 100% employee coverage of medical, dental, and vision premiums (50% for dependents), 14 days of paid vacation, 6 sick days, 8 holidays, flexible schedules, education reimbursement, and paid professional society dues. BKF Engineers offers award-winning benefits and equal employment opportunities, prohibiting discrimination and harassment of any type.
