Senior and Principal level biologists will lead larger, multi‑disciplinary projects, serve as project manager or technical lead, identify new business opportunities, resolve client issues, and coordinate biological surveys and jurisdictional waters permitting. They will work closely with other resource scientists, planners, and engineers to develop innovative resource‑assessment approaches and ensure safety‑policy compliance.
We are evaluating candidates for three levels: Lead Biologist (≈8 years experience), Senior Biologist (≈10 years), and Principal Biologist (≈12 years). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the process will remain open until a robust pool of qualified candidates is assembled.
Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science or a related field (master’s preferred) and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in biological surveys and resource management. Desired experience includes managing subcontractors, producing technical reports, strong wildlife/plant identification skills, familiarity with ESA, CEQA, NEPA, and water‑permitting regulations, and the ability to promote SWCA services.
The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, problem‑solving ability, effective teamwork, and a willingness to grow into greater project‑management and supervisory responsibilities. SWCA’s culture emphasizes employee ownership, sustainability, continuous learning, and community give‑back.
The position is a regular, full‑time, salaried role with hybrid or remote work options and a competitive pay rate based on qualifications. SWCA provides a team‑oriented environment, competitive salaries, and a benefits package that includes an employee stock ownership retirement plan (ESOP).
