Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Manager will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a busy mill and production facility. You'll support daily production activities, help manage teams, and uphold the highest standards of health and safety, quality, and food hygiene.

  • Support the Production Manager in planning and scheduling daily production activities.
  • Oversee and support production teams including operators, hygiene, and warehouse staff.
  • Assist with performance monitoring, stock control, and production reporting.
  • Ensure finished products meet company quality, food safety, and specification standards.
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of health, safety, and food quality compliance.
  • Work closely with maintenance and quality teams to minimise downtime and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide operational cover and leadership in the absence of the Production Manager.

  • At least 1 year's experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • 3+ years in a production or team leadership role.
  • Experience within a food manufacturing environment with knowledge of HACCP, BRC, or GMP standards.
  • Physically fit and able to pass routine health checks.
  • Recent experience in food manufacturing or production.
  • Willingness to undertake training, including professional milling exams.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and open to occasional travel for training.
  • IT literate (MS Office proficiency).
  • Level 3 qualification (e.g., Degree/HND in Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline).
