Technical Lead - Principal Software Engineer

Description

The role is a Software Engineering Technical Team Lead within the Project Delivery Model team, based in London (or Cambridge), joining a global team to lead the development and maintenance of cutting‑edge digital applications that transform how infrastructure owners and operators interact.

The successful candidate will work with stakeholders, cross‑functional managers and engineering leads, providing strategic guidance while also engaging in detailed application development, emphasizing quality and attention to detail.

• Mentor and grow a forward‑thinking team delivering next‑generation digital applications.
• Oversee planning, design, development, execution and maintenance of scalable software applications.
• Operate at strategic and detailed levels, providing insights while handling intricate development tasks.
• Ensure high‑quality applications with strong attention to detail.
• Lead estimation, evaluate risks and mentor team members on software development best practices.
• Lead a complex team using modern technology stack and architecture.
• Engage with large‑scale real‑time data flows processing over 1 billion points per day.
• Tackle engineering challenges and drive innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science or software engineering with ≥8 years relevant experience, including technical leadership and people management.
• Proven ability to collaborate within cross‑functional, multinational teams (UK, India, NZ, US).
• Strong communication, technical and managerial skills.
• Experience with modern cloud‑first patterns on Microsoft Azure.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript (ES2016), C# or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with containerised workloads and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of MS PowerPlatform (beneficial) and focus on communication, simplicity and reliability in decision‑making.
