The Pellet Mill Operator is tasked with operating and maintaining pellet mills to produce wood pellets that meet quality standards while supporting safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Physical duties include lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and pulling for up to twelve hours a day, handling loads up to 50 lb, working at heights of 20 ft or more, and operating computer screens for extended periods.
- Analyze equipment performance and adjust tooling to achieve desired throughput and quality.
- Perform and document equipment inspections and maintain condition.
- Follow work order specifications to extract, form, press, and compact materials into pellets.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speed, pressure, temperature, and material flow.
- Monitor machine indicators (thermometers, voltage meters, timers) to detect malfunctions.
- Perform or coordinate equipment maintenance per job instructions.
- Perform or coordinate housekeeping to required standards.
- Maintain consistent production quality.
- Follow all workplace and safety procedures.
- Complete accurate reporting and communicate operational information.
- Enter maintenance work requests and promptly escalate issues.
- Read data and trends to make appropriate process adjustments.
- Maintain a proven record of upholding safety standards.
- Apply critical thinking to evaluate alternative solutions.
- Troubleshoot operating errors and determine corrective actions.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and assess maintenance needs.

The position requires working outdoors in a range of temperatures—from above 100°F to below 32°F—and in hot, humid, cold, noisy industrial environments, with strict adherence to safety rules and the use of protective equipment.
