

Develops factory‑built small modular nuclear reactors delivering low‑carbon, affordable energy at scale
As a Buyer you will support the development and execution of purchasing strategies, managing sourcing activities with internal and external stakeholders. You will oversee purchase orders typically ranging from £100,000 to £2‑3 million, ensuring alignment with business constraints of time, cost and quality.
Key duties include sourcing and managing the global supply chain to deliver cost‑effective service, maintaining compliance with functional processes and the company’s code of ethics, and establishing commercial frameworks that drive value for money. You will develop and implement supplier and commodity strategies, run strategic tenders, execute Purchase‑to‑Pay solutions, and manage supplier relationships within your assigned category or project.
The role requires a BA degree or equivalent experience, with MCIPS qualification and strong purchasing process knowledge preferred. Advanced MS Office and Excel skills are needed for cost modelling and reporting, and experience in regulated or complex project environments is beneficial. Candidates should understand UK and international commercial contracts, be adept at preparing RFIs and RFQs, and possess strong commercial acumen to challenge assumptions and identify best value.
Due to nuclear industry safety regulations, applicants will undergo additional screening, including Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and a basic financial probity check.
We anticipate paying a salary from £28,800 to £37,000 depending on experience. The role is based in our Derby, Warrington or Manchester office with hybrid working flexibility.
