Quantity Surveyor

Description

Take full ownership of quantity surveying duties on assigned projects, ensuring all commercial and contractual obligations are met and overall value is maximised.

• Validate and approve subcontractor interim applications and final accounts, ensuring compliance with the Construction Contracts Act.
• Manage day-to-day commercial and contractual activities.
• Lead contract administration processes, including change management and maintenance of key registers (e.g. Change Order Log).
• Secure best value in subcontract procurement and contract negotiations.
• Support the management of project budgets, cost plans and feasibility studies.
• Lead pre-appointment subcontractor meetings to clearly define scope and mitigate contractual risk through correct flow-down terms.
• Maximise project cash flow through timely submission of monthly valuations with comprehensive supporting documentation.
• Prepare accurate monthly Cost Value Reports for review with Commercial, Project and Contracts Managers, and for presentation to Project Directors.
• Negotiate, prepare and submit final accounts, including claims for loss and expense, delay, disruption and extensions of time.
• Maintain strong working relationships with design teams and client representatives.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of major construction contract forms.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or equivalent.
• At least 3 years experience in Quantity Surveying.
• Ability to critically review documentation and identify gaps or commercial opportunities.
• Excellent negotiation, conflict management and communication abilities.
• Highly process-oriented with strong attention to detail.
• Strong commercial awareness, numeracy, and report-writing skills.
• In-depth understanding of construction processes, systems and techniques.
