Senior Finance Assistant

Description

The role will be the main contact individual for our project and delivery teams, outsourced service provider the Group HQ finance team.

The successful candidate will have responsibility and oversite for the financial analysis, reporting and project costs control for the UK revenue and renewable energy projects. A key part of the role will be to work alongside the operational and delivery teams to optimize resources and maximize margin. There will also be a requirement to get more involved in ad hoc matters/projects as required.

• Review and manage the month end reporting for BESS projects entity business and the project by project reporting as well as the various revenue stream profitability.
• Production of the finance slides for Board and management reporting
• Oversee the Operating & Maintenance warehouse and Service Centre
• Maintaining the groups transfer pricing methodology and ensuring that the entity substance and tax compliant status is maintained
• Working with the European FD/ Commercial Finance Business Partner and the Group bonds and guarantees team to implement bond guarantees with our banks on projects and the monitoring/renewal of roll-over of guarantees as necessary in accordance with contracts entered.
• Assisting the logistics teams in ensuring products are delivered to their respective destinations in UK smoothly through the respective customs processes
• Resolving UK and Group HQ queries and providing analysis as required
• Assisting the European FD/ Commercial Finance Business Partner in the review of commercial and legal agreements for financial impact and risks and advising on exposure mitigation strategies/clauses
• Assist the outsourced corporate trust team, in house legal team /risk teams on finance/accounting/tax related matters
• Support Europe wide projects and initiatives instigated by the European FD
• Providing analysis and schedules to support the group audit process
• Ensure adherence to local and group wide transfer pricing policies in place and assist in the production of local files for transfer pricing purposes
• Liaising with external advisors as required
• Monthly AP process/invoice oversite management for the projects
• Management of cashflow and funding requests and apply for funding from the group
• Reviewing all balance sheet reconciliations monthly and providing analytical review of the income statement
• Supporting the local statutory audit and management of the statutory compliance filings and accounts
• Maintaining adherence to the agreed budgets
• Keeping the European FD/BESS Commercial Finance Business Partner, HQ teams up to date on the developments in the BESS activities
• Demonstrate and promote a high standard of professional conduct, competence and credibility with all parties
• Assisting the European FD/Commercial Finance Business Partner in reviewing the commercial status of customers and critical suppliers before contracting deals
• Raising recharged invoices and working with the Commercial, Contracts Manager and delivery teams to ensure all contractually billable services are invoiced
• Review VAT, other tax filings and Corporate Tax returns compiled by the outsource advisors and ensure filings are completed on a timely basis
• Inventory and working capital management and reconciliation
• Assist the European FD/Group Tax team in any Europe corporate/tax restructuring activities
• Maintaining good controls and implementing best in class policy and any adherence to Group policy
• Overseeing and reviewing, managing and minimizing the outsource advisor costs
• Support the European FD in the provision of commercial, financial and risk management oversite and governance implementation

Requirements

• Other European language skills would be advantageous as would Chinese, but not essential
• Good knowledge of Excel
• Candidates will ideally have at least 2 years’ relevant work experience
• Proven relationship, communication and presentation/marketing skills
• Good team player and understands the team is much more effective than the individuals combined
• Good people and project management skills
• Strong problem solving, creative thinking and good communication skills at all levels,
• Good technical accounting and commercial/analytical ability
• Organized, diligent, flexible & pro-active, with ability to work in a dynamic environment
• Good understanding of accounting/tax/regulatory matters related to renewable energy projects in the UK
• Ability to develop pro-active solutions to complex problems
• Modelling skills for project valuations would be helpful (requires macro level knowledge), but not essential
• Qualified accountant (Chartered Accountant/CIMA/ACA or equivalent qualification)
• The role and nature of the work undertaken means that the individual will, as necessary, be required to work irregular hours when needed and be able to engage in a certain amount of business travel both within the UK and elsewhere.
