Build your career at US Aggregates! The Area Operations Manager oversees and coordinates mining operations across multiple sites within a designated area. This role ensures production targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget while maintaining environmental and regulatory compliance.
The manager leads site managers and operational teams, drives continuous improvement, and implements strategic initiatives to optimize performance. The position oversees plant operations in the Southern Indiana Region, including Cloverdale, Springville, Columbus, and Flat Rock. Candidates are expected to reside within that region.
The Area Operations Manager oversees daily mining activities across all sites, ensuring they align with corporate goals and safety standards. They develop and execute operational strategies that increase productivity, lower costs, and enhance safety performance. Production metrics are monitored, analyzed, and reported regularly to senior leadership, while strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations is maintained. The role also includes budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation across the region.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, business, or a related field is preferred.
Candidates must have at least eight years of crushed‑stone operations experience at a large‑output plant or multiple sites, and a proven track record working in MSHA‑regulated environments with deep knowledge of safety standards and compliance.
Strong expertise in mining processes, safety and environmental compliance, along with demonstrated leadership and team‑management abilities, is essential. The ideal candidate possesses excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, effective communication, and proficiency with operational software and reporting tools. Experience with sand, gravel, and limestone mining, as well as familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous‑improvement methodologies, is valued.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required, and the role demands flexibility to travel 50 % or more within the Southern Indiana region.
