The role is for a Consultant in the Real Estate Consulting (REC) team, which supports health and social care clients nationwide in assessing the feasibility of real‑estate investment opportunities. The consultant will help build the case for change and guide clients toward optimal investment decisions. Experience in planning and developing healthcare estate and infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, flexible, and possesses excellent communication skills, enabling effective engagement with clients at all levels. Responsibilities include preparing business cases (SOC, OBC, FBC), developing estate and property strategies, designing target operating models, and managing change initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to analyse and present data are essential, as is the capacity to persuade, challenge, and influence key decisions.
Essential qualifications include a relevant professional degree, a project management certification such as PRINCE2 or MSP, and proven business‑case writing experience. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the HM Treasury 5‑case model, competence in handling large datasets, and strong written and oral communication abilities. Additional requirements are strong interpersonal, persuasion, and influencing skills, as well as the ability to work independently under pressure and manage workload with minimal supervision.
Desirable attributes comprise industry‑specific qualifications in surveying, engineering, finance or accounting, and evidence of continuing professional development. Candidates with Better Business Case accreditation, experience delivering strategic infrastructure programmes in large organisations, or project‑manager level experience in health or social‑care services are preferred. Proficiency with data analysis tools such as MS Excel and Power BI is also beneficial.
