Senior Cost Manager (Infrastructure Consultancy)

Description

• Lead end‑to‑end cost management from project inception to completion, including feasibility estimates, cost planning, procurement, tender documentation, value engineering, fee generation, risk management, dispute resolution, post‑contract reporting and final accounts.
• Drive performance standards and technical excellence through effective communication and use of AECOM’s performance management and technical practice networks.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, promoting AECOM as a premium provider of construction services.
• Support the internal team and manage junior staff on technically complex projects.
• Identify and develop marketing opportunities, coordinating with Directors and Business Development to generate new business leads.

Requirements

We are hiring experienced Senior Cost Managers for our Buildings & Places Infrastructure team in the South West (Bristol, Cardiff, Plymouth or Exeter). The role supports high‑profile water and environment clients such as Anglian Water and the Environment Agency, and may also involve highways, rail and power projects. You will own cost management throughout the project lifecycle, from business case through to commissioning, while also contributing to business growth and team development.

• Demonstrate the highest professional competence in all client and stakeholder interactions, enhancing the firm's reputation.
• Hold a degree in Project Management, Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying (preferred).
• Possess Chartered status with RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or an equivalent professional body.
• Have significant experience in cost management/quantity surveying on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Be proficient with NEC4 contracts, especially the Professional Services Contract and Engineering and Construction Contract.
• Experience delivering cost/commercial management within integrated, multi‑organisation collaborative teams.
• Experience working within a client organisation or on‑site secondments is advantageous.
• Ability to identify and influence key client stakeholders and grow the project portfolio.
