The Benefits Administrator will lead the administration of company‑wide benefit programs, including health and defined‑contribution plans. This role can be based daily at any MasTec office in Fargo, ND; Indianapolis, IN; Clinton, IN; or Phoenix, AZ.
The incumbent will maintain accurate benefit data, coordinate with payroll and vendors, support audits and open enrollment, manage leave programs, and provide orientation and ongoing education to employees. They will also ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies while handling employee inquiries and occasional recognition‑program tasks.
The work environment may include occasional visits to job sites where exposure to hazards, extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, noise or other unusual elements can occur, requiring adherence to basic safety precautions.
- Track and enter weekly changes to benefit programs (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, ESPP, Life, Disability, etc.) for active and terminated employees.
- Communicate with payroll and employees regarding deductions, missed deductions, catch‑ups, and PTO payouts for terminations.
- Notify new employees monthly of their benefits eligibility dates.
- Support auditing of benefit programs (401k enrollments, FSA, COBRA, ACA reporting) and conduct monthly benefit billing audits.
- Manage Leave of Absence (LOA) and FMLA programs with a third‑party vendor.
- Assist with annual open enrollment and monthly eligibility enrollments.
- Coordinate with third‑party benefits administrator (BMS) to resolve employee benefit issues.
- Conduct benefits orientation for new hires and maintain a strategic benefits communication calendar.
- Respond to employee questions about the CE&I benefits program and may support the recognition program.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and adhere to company policies.

Candidates should hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field and possess 1‑2 years of HR administration experience with a focus on benefits. Payroll processing, HRIS proficiency, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and knowledge of employment legislation are preferred, along with a commitment to safety and zero‑injury principles.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field (preferred).
- 1‑2 years of HR administration experience with knowledge of employee benefits.
- Payroll processing experience preferred.
- HRIS experience preferred.
- Knowledge of employment laws and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret written and oral instructions and solve practical problems using sound judgment.
