SEL builds embedded devices for the power grid that prevent blackouts, shorten outages, and add cybersecurity, automation, and communication. As an Automation & SCADA Integration Customer Support Engineer, you will provide solutions and services that protect and control critical electrical infrastructure worldwide.
A typical day involves maintaining expertise in SEL products, assisting customers through visits, demos, training courses, and phone support, and applying engineering principles to solve technical problems. You will also contribute to product specifications, application software, technical literature, and participate in marketing, sales activities, industry conferences, and SEL University teaching.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus at least three years of experience in power‑system automation. Candidates must be familiar with SCADA fundamentals and protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC UA), hardware such as RTUs, IEDs and PLCs, networking components, IEC 61131‑3 programming, and troubleshooting tools like Wireshark. Strong communication, professionalism, problem‑solving, teamwork, and the ability to travel up to 30 % are essential.
